Along with the development of the era, the world of food has also developed. Candy that was initially limited to fruit, sweet, or mint flavors now has more varied flavors. In addition, consumption needs and interests have also changed! In the past, someone’s consideration for consuming candy might only be in terms of its taste, but trends show that now people are more “aware” of the functional value of the product. The question that is often asked is no longer “What flavor does this candy have?” but has changed to “If we consume this product, what benefits can we get for our bodies?” . Do you agree, Ina? Nowadays, there are many candy products that add functional components such as vitamins, minerals, or extracts.
Then, how can Ina’s friends know the contents of a product? This information can be seen in the Nutritional Value Information on the packaging label. Let’s discuss a little, what is Nutritional Information.
Nutritional Information (Nutrition Facts) or commonly abbreviated as ING is a label on food packaging, either food or drinks, which lists the nutritional content of the product. Generally, this information is summarized in a table called the Nutritional Information Table. From this definition, Ina’s friends can imagine the importance of reading ING information before deciding to buy and consume a product. However, the large amount of information in ING makes it difficult for some people to understand it. In this article we will discuss an easy way to read nutritional information, let’s take a look!
- Number ServingsPer-Golden
The first information we find is the number of servings per package. In this section, Ina’s friends can find out the nutritional content for one serving/single consumption. In one package there is usually more than 1 serving, but there are also some products in 1 package consisting of only 1 serving.

- Total Calories Per Serving
The second information is the total calories which is the amount of energy produced each time Ina’s friend consumes a product in each serving.

- Dietary Intake (RDI)
Dietary Intake or abbreviated RDI (Dietary Value) in the Nutritional Value Information is written in percentage units where the RDI percentage explains the comparison between nutrients in the product with the total nutrients that you need. Generally, RDI on products in Indonesia is based on the need for 2150 kcal, but your personal needs can be higher or lower. By looking at this information, you can adjust what your body needs and choose products that are more in line with those needs.
With the Nutritional Value Information, consumers can find out what content is contained in a food product. Functional content information can also be found in this AKG information, for example, vitamin C content information.
